38 injured after bus falls 10 feet off road in Mussoorie

One person was seriously injured while 37 sustained varying degrees of injury when the bus they were in fell 10 feet down the road near the ITBP gate, Library Chowk in Mussoorie on Sunday afternoon. The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus had 38 people in it when the mishap occurred at about 2 PM. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) the seriously injured passenger was referred to Dehradun for treatment, 10 injured persons were admitted to the ITBP hospital in Mussoorie while the remaining 10 injured were admitted to the sub district hospital in Mussoorie.

According to the police, information was received at the control room in the afternoon about a bus falling off the road and onto a bridle path after the bus driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The Mussoorie police station personnel reached the site of the mishap and began the rescue and relief efforts. The bus UK 07 PA 3268 was plying from Mussoorie to Dehradun when it went out of control near the ITBP gate in Mussoorie, causing it to fall off the road. The injured passengers were taken out of the bus by the police, fire brigade, ITBP personnel and local residents. Of the total 38 persons in the bus including the driver and conductor, the injured persons were sent to the nearby hospitals for primary treatment. On being informed about the mishap, the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika and senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar also reached the site of the mishap to oversee the rescue and relief measures being undertaken. Later, the SSP also visited the civil hospital in Mussoorie where he enquired about the condition of the injured passengers. According to the police, the cause of the accident is being investigated.
