Six new dengue cases reported in Dehradun

Dengue cases are being reported consistently in Dehradun district though the situation has not reached alarming proportions yet. Six new cases of dengue were reported here on Monday. The Dehradun Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that of the six new cases, three were identified at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, one at Graphic Era Hospital and two at Himalayan Hospital. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed dengue cases in the district to 364, with 174 cases originating from Dehradun and 190 cases from other districts and States.
Currently, there are 29 dengue patients receiving treatment. Of these, 17 are hospitalised at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, seven at Himalayan Hospital and five at Graphic Era Hospital. On Monday, health officials collected 450 dengue samples, bringing the total number of samples tested to 18,892.
Additionally, on Monday, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and volunteers from the Health department conducted 10,637 household surveys to check for mosquito larvae. During these surveys, larvae were found in 162 homes. To date, the Health department has completed a total of 15,09,592 household surveys, with 13,348 showing positive results. On Monday, ASHA workers and volunteers inspected 67,422 containers and found that 178 of them contained larvae. Overall, they have examined a total of 10,07,7055 containers, with 17,681 testing positive for larvae.
