In latest news from Dehradun, serious allegations have been raised against the organisers of the four-day North Zone Wushu (martial art also known as kung fu) Women’s League being held in the multipurpose hall in Parade Ground Dehradun from December 27 under the PM-envisioned and Union Sports ministry-launched Khelo India initiative. As per the allegations, though the Khelo India initiative is meant to promote the sporting talent of the poor youths, the organisers of the zonal Wushu women league forced the aspirants to pay Rs 2500 for participation.  This aside, the organisers allegedly made the aspirants to pay the amount in the bank accounts of persons who had nothing to do with the games. It has also been alleged that though the organisers had claimed that there would be 700 participants in the zonal league the actual figure of participants fell far short of the claimed figure. Seeing things in the league, a senior national-level functionary of the Wushu games allegedly became angry. Besides, the State sports minister and the senior State sports department officers have been informed of what had happened during the zonal league, according to those who raised the malpractice allegations against the league organisers.
