Seven deaths, 4,759 new Covid cases in U’khand

Positivity rate at 12.48 %; active cases- 28907

The infectivity and the fatality of the third wave of the pandemic of Covid-19 is continuing to increase in Uttarakhand. After eight deaths and 4,964 new cases of the disease on Friday the state health department reported 4,759 cases and seven deaths from the disease on Saturday.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state is now at 3,96,674  while a total of 3,52,076  patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 7,475 people have died in the state so far from Covid-19. The recovery percentage of the disease further dropped to 88.76 per cent on Saturday while at 12.48 per cent the positivity rate continued to remain high on Saturday. 

The authorities reported death of four patients from Covid-19 at Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun while one patient each died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Himalayan hospital Dehradun and Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani on Saturday.

The state health department reported 1,802 new patients from Dehradun, 607 from Haridwar, 565 from Nainital, 395 from Udham Singh Nagar, 259 from Pauri, 243 from Chamoli, 176 from Pithoragarh, 159 from Rudraprayag, 143 from Almora, 120 from Bageshwar, 112 from Champawat, 108 from Tehri and 70 from Uttarkashi on Saturday. 

The active case count of Covid-19 in the state has now jumped to 28,907. Dehradun with 11,965 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital has 3,791 active cases of the disease which is followed by Haridwar district with 3,568 active cases. Uttarkashi is at the bottom of the table with 230 active cases of the disease. 

 In the ongoing vaccination drive 33,337 people were vaccinated in 1032 sessions in the state held on Saturday.
