Senior IAS officer of Uttarakhand cadre, BVRC Purushottam has sought early retirement from the service under the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).
An officer of 2004 batch of IAS, Purushottam has sought retirement from the elite service when more than 12 years of his service is still remaining. Known to be an upright, honest and highly efficient officer, the VRS application of Purushottam has come as a surprise to many.
The told The Pioneer that he has sought VRS on personal grounds. The officer currently holding the charge of chief electoral officer, Uttarakhand and secretary Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development in the State administration said that his parents are in Andhra Pradesh and now he wants to be with them.
It is learnt that Purushottam had requested the government to send him on deputation to Andhra Pradesh which is his home State but on technical grounds the permission was not granted.
