The two-day religious and historical fair of Sem Mukhem Nagraja concluded at Patti Upli Ramoli in the Pratapnagar area on Wednesday. A large number of devotees from various parts of Uttarakhand attended the fair. The event featured traditional cultural tableaux, folk dances, Bhajan-Kirtan and various religious rituals.

Speaking during the occasion, the co- convenor of BJP’s economic cell for Uttarakhand and State spokesperson, Rajeshwar Painuly, expressed his gratitude to all the devotees who participated in the triennial fair of Nagraja. Painuly emphasised that the fair is not only a symbol of religious faith but also a wonderful confluence of the region’s culture, folk traditions and social unity. Held every three years, this fair is regarded as a special occasion for celebration and reverence among the local community. It represents the faith and devotion of Sem Mukhem towards Nagraja.

Notably, it is believed that when Lord Krishna incarnated in this region, he asked a warrior (Veerbhad) Gangu Ramola for land to live on. Initially, Ramola refused to grant him land, as he had no children. However, Lord Krishna appeared to Ramola in a dream and blessed him with two sons. Subsequently, Ramola gave the land to Lord Krishna, who then performed the Raasleela on this land. Since that time, a fair has been held at this site every three years.
