SCPCR to hold a meeting on violations of child rights

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) will organise a meeting on Saturday considering the recent increase in complaints related to the violation of child rights in educational institutions of the Vikasnagar area of Dehradun district. This meeting will be chaired by the SCPCR chairperson Geeta Khanna, said the member of the commission Vinod Kaparwan.

He said that the meeting will be attended by representatives of the educational institutions in Vikasnagar. The meeting has been scheduled after receiving complaints about many schools in Vikasnagar regarding the violation of child rights. He further stated the main objective of the meeting is to address all the schools/educational institutions to follow the rules laid down in the Right to Education Act 2009 in view of the complaints being received against the schools in the area. He further said that in the meeting various points will be discussed so that violations do not take place in the educational institutions. In the meeting the special focus will be laid on the aspects like cultural traditions in education and the safety of the girl child, Kaparwan added.
