Safety of affected people in Joshimath our top priority-  Ajay Bhatt

The work on demolition of two highly damaged and precariously placed hotel buildings in Joshimath city could not start on Tuesday. After the demolition orders issued by the district magistrate (DM) of Chamoli Himanshu Khurana under the disaster management act it was believed that the administration would demolish Hotel Mount view and Malari Inn on Tuesday. The teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and administration were on the spot for the entire day. However the operation to demolish the buildings can start on Wednesday under the observation of the experts of Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee. The teams of the power corporation removed the electric wires from the poles around the hotels on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the minister of state (MoS) for defence Ajay Bhatt reached Joshimath on the day. He visited the army camp, Sunil ward, JP colony, Narsingh temple and Gandhiagar areas and met the affected families.

 Bhatt said that both the Union and State governments are with the affected families of Joshimath and every possible help is being extended to them. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is himself monitoring the situation while the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is observing and monitoring all the arrangements. Bhatt said that the safety of the affected people is the top most priority of the government. He said that some buildings in the Army camp have been damaged due to land subsidence and they have been cordoned off in view of the safety. Bhatt said that it is really painful that people have to leave their houses but our first priority is to save the lives of people.
