Max super hospital organised a continuing medical education (CME) on Robotic surgery on Wednesday in Dehradun. Around 130 doctors from Dehradun and nearby cities were present in the CME along with robotic surgery experts from Max Hospital.
Recently the hospital had launched the Da Vinci X surgical robot which is highly advanced.
Since its launch, the hospital’s teams of surgeons have performed robotic surgeries for hernia, hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, neck dissection, nephrectomy and pyeloplasty on patients.
Speaking at the panel discussion, the Director Department of General Surgery and Robotics, Dr GP Painuly said, “Robotic surgeries are more precise in all specialties because they offer the advantage of being minimally invasive, minimal blood loss and faster recovery.”
Commenting on the Robotic surgery, Senior Consultant, Dr Deepak Garg said that now robotics is considered as the gold standard in minimally invasive surgery. “Indian surgeons are now showing massive interest in adopting this technology as robot-assisted surgery helps them gain control. Patients are also now opting for robot-assisted surgery due to its advantages over conventional surgery,’’ he said
The senior vice president of Max Hospital, Dr Sandeep Singh said that robotic surgery allows surgeons to access hard-to-reach areas with precision. Apart from this, instead of larger incisions robotic surgeries are made of smaller ones, so there is less bleeding and the patient has a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery, he added.
