Rs 75.27 lakh unaccounted cash recovered so far by SST in Dehradun

The Static Surveillance Teams (SST) in Dehradun district have recovered Rs 75.27 lakh unaccounted cash since the model code of conduct (MCC) was implemented on January 8 for the Assembly elections. The police informed that authorities are undertaking preventive measures to ensure a smooth assembly election process in the district since the implementation of MCC. The police have registered a total of 1,111 cases, imposed penalties on 6,685 persons and detained 4,373 people under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the police have registered 38 cases and arrested 40 persons. From January 8 to January 27, the police seized 26 kilogrammes of Bhaang leaves, 6.82 kilogramme Ganja, 3.3 kilogrammes of Charas, 196.15 grammes of smack and 5,582 narcotic injections and pills. The police informed that they have acted against 73 people under the Goonda Act in the past 20 days. A total of 1,310 bottles of IMFL, 987 bottles of country liquor and 270 litres of hooch with 115 accused being arrested. The SST also recovered unaccounted cash of 75,27,500 lakh since January 8 under the intensive campaign across the district, informed the police.
