Rs 200 crore relief package for tourism & pilgrimage sector: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that a relief package worth about Rs 200 crore will be implemented for those involved in various tourism and pilgrimage activities. Dhami said that Covid-19 had adversely affected various tourism activities and the businesses of those relying on the Char Dham Yatra. Presently, the Char Dham Yatra and other tourist spots are closed which has affected hotels, transport, porters and others professionals. Despite financial difficulties, the state government will directly transfer money into the accounts of persons involved in such business activities. In addition to this, relaxation will be provided in license fee and other charges for various business activities. The government has arranged about Rs 200 crore for this purpose which will benefit about 1.64 lakh beneficiaries/families, said the chief minister. This package will provide relief to those working in the tourism sector and also provide a fillip to the state’s economy.

Under this package, those involved in various activities of the tourism sector who are registered with the tourism and other departments will be provided Rs 2,000 financial aid for six months. This will benefit about 50,000 persons in the state. Tour operators and adventure tour operators registered under the Uttarakhand tourism tour business manual will be provided Rs 10,000 financial assistance which will benefit about 655 beneficiaries. A total of 630 registered river guides will be provided Rs 10,000 financial assistance each. Further, 93 registered boat operators at the Tehri dam reservoir will also be provided Rs 10,000 financial aid each. In addition to this, a total of 301 registered rafting and aero sports service providers will be given rebate in license renewal fees. Under the transport department, drivers, conductors and cleaners of public transport will be provided Rs 2,000 financial assistance each for six months which will benefit 1,03,235 persons.

Similarly, under the urban development department, 549 registered boat operators at Naini, Naukuchiatal, Bhimtal, Sattal and Sadiyatal lakes in Nainital district will be provided Rs 10,000 financial assistance each. Further, 671 boat operators at Naini lake will receive renewal fee rebate in 2021-22. Cultural troupes will be provided Rs 2,000 monthly incentive, which will benefit 6,500 beneficiaries. Further, under the forest department, rebate will be provided on trekking and peak fees.

Under the finance department, finance compensation assistance will be provided for six months under the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwal and Deendayal Upadhyay homestay scheme.
