Three persons were killed when the car they were traveling in fell into a deep gorge near Agrakhal in Tehri district on Tuesday. The police suspect overspeeding to be the main cause of the accident. According to the circle officer of Narendranagar in Tehri, the car fell into a 200-meter-deep gorge near Agrakhal in the afternoon on Tuesday breaking small cemented safety barriers built on the road. He said that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called immediately after the police got the information of the accident. He said that all three men- Satish Singh (37), Deewan Singh (52) and Kunwar Singh (57) died at the spot and the SDRF retrieved their bodies from the gorge by the evening. Talking about the cause of the accident, the CO said that the said road is wide enough for the car to drive on and is not at all damaged which could possibly cause an accident which leaves the possibility that the car was being driven at a high speed. The locals have also stated that the victims did not appear drunk but the driver was driving at a high speed, said the CO. He said that bodies will be handed over to their respective families after completing necessary legal procedures.
