Rivers are the basis of social, economic & religious life: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami offered prayers at River Ganga in Har ki Paudi and sought blessings of mother Ganga on completion of four years as CM of the State on Friday. He prayed for the prosperity, peace, and progress of the State.

A ‘River Festival’ programme was also organised by the administration on the occasion. Addressing the programme, the CM said that rivers are not just sources of water but have been the basic foundation of social, economic, and religious life since ancient times. He emphasized that in order to tackle global challenges like global warming, the conservation and rejuvenation of rivers are extremely important.

Dhami appealed to all citizens to honour and respect rivers like a ‘mother’ and to contribute to keeping them clean and pure. On this occasion, the CM along with the people attending the programme took a pledge to never pollute rivers and to always keep them clean.

On his arrival at Har ki Paudi, the CM was welcomed by the president of Ganga  Sabha Nitin Gautam, chairman Krishan Kumar Sharma, Siddharth Chakrapani and others.

Former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, MLAs Madan Kaushik and Adesh Chauhan, vice-chairman of the State Disaster Management Authority Vinay Rohela, district magistrate of Haridwar Mayur Dixit, senior superintendent of Police Pramendra Singh Dobal, other officers and devotees attended the programme.
