The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that the record rise in revenue from mining is a slap on the face for those spreading disinformation on mining activities. At the same time, it also substantiates the efficacy of the transparent policies and able management of the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
The BJP State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that the revenue achieved from mining activities is a slap on the faces of those who always used mining as a means for loot when they were in office. Interacting with the media, the BJP State president said that Uttarakhand is achieving considerably when it comes to rise in revenue under CM Dhami.
He said, “The mining sector which was once infamous for scams, corruption, mafia culture and illegal activities is now a major source of revenue. Despite multiple attempts by past governments, the revenue from mining activity did not surpass Rs 350 crore but now this figure has increased fourfold. CM Dhami has focused on good governance and amplified his zero tolerance for corruption during his three years in office and this has resulted in the rise in revenue from mining. As in other sectors, a transparent policy was implemented in the mining sector and managed efficiently. This is why scams, middlemen and the mafia culture were cleared out of this field,” the BJP State president claimed.
Bhatt further said that Uttarakhand has also seen a phase when the Congress chief minister was seen “giving license to loot” in order to save his government. The mining mafia used to attack officers of the administration and police. The corruption in mining activities affected the general citizen as it resulted in a considerable rise in the cost of construction materials. Bhatt said that the rise in revenue from mining is a crisp slap on the Congress which relies on selfish and negative politics. The changes brought about by the Dhami government will not only enhance the State’s revenues but also benefit the general public, the BJP State president averred.–
