Executive Engineer concerned to be held accountable for outage of more than 20 minutes: Power secretary
Taking strong exception to the unscheduled power outages, the Power secretary Radhika Jha has stated that responsibility would be fixed for such outages. In a meeting held at state secretariat, the secretary curtly told the officials of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) that the executive engineer concerned would be held responsible for the unscheduled outages of more than 20 minutes. She said that complaints are regularly being received regarding unscheduled outages from different parts of the state.
Jha asked the Managing Director of the UPCL and the director (transmission) to take appropriate steps to address such complaints. She said that the transmission director would do a daily review of the interruption in the power supply and inform the state administration about the number of power tripping and their durations. Jha expressed his displeasure on the complaints of outages and said that in different districts especially Dehradun power outages without intimation are being done due to which the domestic and industrial consumers are facing many problems. She directed that prior information of the outages for repair and improvisation of power lines should be given to the general public in advance. This information should be provided by newspapers, sms and other means so that consumers are mentally prepared for the outages.
