Remain tethered to village roots: Tiwari to migrating youngsters

While addressing a seminar on the migration from the hills of Uttarakhand, the director general of Information and Public Relations and vice-president of MDDA, Banshidhar Tiwari urged the youth from the mountainous villages to maintain emotional/ cultural bonding with their native villages. While admitting that migration is often inevitable for livelihood purposes, he observed that the migrating youngsters should hold on to their cultural roots wherever they are. Also, he highlighted a string of projects rolled out by the Dhami government for prevention of migration, for revival of border villages, facilitating women empowerment and boosting cooperative movement to enhance the financial status of the villagers.
A number of distinguished persons presented their views on migration and how to arrest the trend on the occasion through collective efforts.
