Red alert- heavy to very heavy rain, extremely intense spells likely in nine districts today

Even as various parts of the State witnessed moderate to heavy rains and landslides on Sunday, the State Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/very intense to extremely intense spells of rain likely to occur at few places in nine districts of the State on Monday. The red alert has been issued for Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts.

The centre has also issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain/intense to very intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining district of the State. Additionally, a yellow warning (watch) has also been issued regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of the State today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur in some parts of Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 29 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains were reported in various parts of the State with 45 millimetres in Lansdowne, 44 millimetres in Gadarpur, 40 millimetres in Ramnagar, 39 millimetres in Kaladhungi, 36.5 millimetres in Tharali, 34 millimetres in Kashipur, 32.5 millimetres in Dewal, 25.4 millimetres in Pantnagar and 7.4 millimetres in Dehradun.
