Friday, 13 July 2018 | PNS | Haridwar– The property dealers and real estate agents of the district have gathered under one roof to highlight the varied registration fees imposed by Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) in different States of the country. The agents demanded the Centre to reduce the registration fees in Uttarakhand. The difference in the registration fees in different States clearly showed discrimination among the States, they said. Notably, under Uttarakhand Real estate (Regulation and development) general rules, 2017 Chapter III, it is mentioned that the real estate agent would pay a registration fee at the time of application for registration by way of a demand draft or bankers cheque drawn on any scheduled bank or through online payment, as the case may be, for a sum of Rs 25,000 in case of the applicant being and individual; or Rs 2,50,000 in case of the applicant being other than an individual. Discussing the problems faced by the people engaged in the business of property, RERA real estate professional Shivam Sadana said, “The same registration cost in case of proprietor or company is Rs 50,000 in Delhi and Rajasthan. In case of individual, it is only Rs 10,000.” He, further, said that many property dealers and real estate agents/ builders were working in the market without registration while their addresses and contact numbers were loaded on websites and real estate search portals. “No verification drive is being taken out by RERA authorities while they should ensure that no such unverified property dealers is there on web,” he said. Sadana asked, “What is the use of demonetisation, GST on real property and introduction of RERA if authorities could not stop the illegal trading in the real property market?”
