Rawat calling Rahul Gandhi exemplary for Dhami laughable: Bhatt

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Bharatiya Janata Party State president and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was born with a “golden spoon in his mouth” and understands nothing about either poverty or farming. Stating that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had followed in his footsteps by sowing paddy is laughable, he said in response to a statement made by former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat.

It is pertinent to mention here that after Dhami sowed paddy in his field, Rawat commented on social media that it was good to note that the CM had followed in the footsteps of Rahul Gandhi.Taking a dig at Rawat’s statement, Bhatt said that it was the height of nepotism and appeasement. He said that Rawat could have mentioned former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, but he appears to be displaying his loyalty to the Gandhi family. Bhatt said, “The Congress ‘Yuvraj’ is not exemplary either for CM Dhami or for any farmer in the nation. Rahul has no understanding of the farm, seeds, the seasonal cycle or farming. On the other hand, Dhami’s father was a soldier and farmer, while his paternal and maternal grandfathers were also farmers. He has been involved in farming work since his childhood while Rahul has not really seen farms. While the CM’s muddy clothes are not a cause for surprise, the same cannot be imagined in the case of Rahul Gandhi. He has been brought up in grandeur and is habituated to five-star hotels and travelling in expensive aircrafts since his childhood,” the BJP State president said.

Bhatt further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is genuinely exemplary for farmers and other sections of society as he has risen from humble beginnings and is today followed not just by India but by the world. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi is not followed even by Congress members, he averred. PM Modi has implemented various schemes for doubling the income of farmers and ensuring their welfare, he added.
