Talking with the media persons at the state headquarters of the Congress party,  Godiyal said that local people are being neglected in the Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail project. He said that the Rs 16,000 crore rail project was approved during the time of the UPA government and the Rail Nirman Nigam had promised at the time of conception of the project that locals would be given employment in the project. The PCC president said that neither the compensation was provided to the local farmers nor the employment was given in the project. He warned that the Congress would take up the issue in right earnest if the upcoming meeting of affected families and railways officers scheduled on October 9 fails to address the grievances of locals. On the issue of the Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) qualified candidates, the PCC president said that the government first gave training to the unemployed but now it is refusing to give jobs to them. He said that the Congress party is with the unemployed. Godiyal added that the Congress is keeping a close watch on every activity of the government and raising its voice against corruption.
