Ex- lineman accuses UPCL director & his wife of harassment

Levelling allegations of harassment against the director (HR) of Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), AK Singh and his wife in a letter to State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), an ex-lineman Basant Kaushik stated that he lost his job in the corporation last year which is severely affecting the future of his five year old daughter and his family.

According to the letter, Singh and his wife had forced Kaushik to carry out domestic works regularly at their home. Kaushik has claimed in the letter that he has pieces of evidence that show that Singh’s wife had called him multiple times for domestic chores until the last year. He added that he resigned from his job in July last year after being forced to do so by Singh.

As per the letter, Kaushik’s wife filed a complaint in Patelnagar police station last year and he also wrote complaints to Uttarakhand Human Rights Commission and Labour Commissioner’s office but he added that most of his complaints have been dismissed so far. Taking cognisance of the complaint, the chairperson of SCPCR, Usha Negi has instructed Singh to present his side before the commission on November 23.
