In view of the rising cases of dengue among children, the chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Geeta Khanna has redirected the Education department to issue the dengue guidelines to the schools in Dehradun. Khanna informed that the cases of dengue have increased among the children in the city at an alarming rate. Concerning the rate of increased dengue cases, the commission redirected the Dehradun chief education officer Pradeep Rawat to re-issue the dengue guidelines to the schools in Doon, she added.

She informed that to ensure compliance with the said guidelines, surprise inspections are being conducted by the Education department at all schools in Doon. If any school is found to be non-compliant, appropriate action will be taken against it without delay, she said.

Khanna emphasised that ensuring the safety of children is a shared responsibility of the school and the parents. So, it is strongly recommended that parents ensure their children wear full sleeves shirts when going to the school. Additionally, it is imperative for parents to educate their children about the necessary precautions to prevent dengue, she added.
