Rain and snowfall likely to continue till end of month

Rain and snowfall is expected to continue in the State till the end of this month. According to the meteorological centre, an active western disturbance is likely to affect Uttarakhand from January 29 to 30. Under the influence of this system, rain/snowfall/thunderstorms are very likely to occur on January 29 and 30 in the State.

Meanwhile, very light to light rain/snowfall/thunderstorm is likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli & Pithoragarh districts on Saturday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts while shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur in some parts of the plains especially Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear skies with shallow fog/mist likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 25 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Saturday.

Later, light to moderate rain/snowfall/thunderstorm is very likely to occur at most places in Uttarakhand on January 29 and 30. Snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above on January 29 and at places situated at altitudes of 2,200 metres and above on January 30.
