Rain and snowfall forecast in mountains today

With the minimum temperature dropping by about a degree in, the State is also forecast to see a change in the weather with rain forecast in the mountainous areas on Friday. The State Meteorological Centre has forecast that very light to light rain/snow is likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand. Snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3,200 metres and above. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the State. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 24 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. Considering the maximum and minimum temperatures in Dehradun onThursday and the forecast for Friday, the diurnal temperature variance will be about 17 degrees Celsius. The city is witnessing comparatively warm days due to clear skies and warmth of the sunlight with the temperature taking a considerable dip after sunset. The variance was about 19 degrees in Pantnagar on Thursday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Thursday were 24.4 degrees Celsius and 7.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23.6 degrees Celsius and four degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.1 degrees Celsius and 4.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 18.7 degrees Celsius and 4.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
