Rain activity weakens but heavy rain likely in four districts

Various parts of the State witnessed light to moderate rains on Sunday with no reports of heavy rains causing any major disaster. However, the State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning (be aware) regarding the possibility of heavy rain in four districts on Monday.

According to the forecast, heavy rain/thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Pauri, Bageshwar and Nainital districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State on Monday. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in all districts of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. One or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, which may be intense in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

Meanwhile, roads in some parts of Dehradun were temporarily waterlogged after brief spells of rain on Sunday. There was 16 millimetres of rain in Srinagar, 12.5 millimetres in Raiwala, 11 millimetres in Ramnagar, 10 millimetres in Kotdwar and 5.5 millimetres in Lansdowne.
