The Northern Railways conducted a ticket checking campaign in Dehradun railway station and collected a fine of Rs 1.43 lakh from people traveling without tickets on Saturday. The officials informed that a total of 14 ticket checking staff checked four passenger trains at Dehradun station under the checking campaign. The staff caught a total of 277 cases of unauthorized passengers traveling through the train and imposed fines on them collecting a total railway revenue of Rs 1,43,370.

The officials informed that due to such unauthorized passengers, the trains become overcrowded and genuine passengers with tickets, mainly women, children, and senior citizens, have to face trouble during their journey. Such unauthorized passengers also cause potential risks to other passengers on the trains.  Considering the safety and convenience of reserved passengers, the railway management will continue such inspections under the campaign to take appropriate action against unauthorized passengers by preventing them from boarding trains and take appropriate action against them.
