Publicise transgender rights among police personnel : DGP

The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has directed police in-charges of all districts to publicise among police personnel the rights of transgenders and take apt action to ensure all follow the rules as per the Transgender Act 2020. He also directed the officials to use section 370/371/372 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in human trafficking cases to ensure culprits get the punishment as per the crime committed by them.

He stated this in a video conferencing with police in-charges and circle officers (COs) of all districts in police headquarters on Tuesday. He also informed that the police will launch a campaign against the wanted criminals from December 1.  He ordered the officials to complete the deliberations of such cases as required in the process of declaring rewards on wanted criminals. He directed the officials to work towards strengthening highway and city patrol units. He also directed them to raise awareness among women about the usage of the Gaura Shakti app meant to provide immediate help to women. He also directed to ensure all police personnel are aware of the rights given to the transgender community under the Transgender Act 2020 and must ensure, they are used appropriately as per the rules.
