‘Public participation vital in discussion on NEP implementation’

Multidimensional innovation through imaginative and flexible approach is a key factor in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.  India can also opt for imparting education in the mother tongue as in some other countries but it involves challenges as India is a multi-lingual country and addressing this challenge requires great commitment on the part of educationist in terms of preparing teaching material and attention focusing teaching techniques, said HNB Garhwal University vice chancellor, professor Annpurna Nautiyal. She was speaking as the chief guest at a refresher course on pedagogical techniques and research methodology for faculty members of higher education institutions organised by Faculty Development Centre (FDC) under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Mission for teachers and teaching.

She said that NEP has specific features of mentor-mentee and hand-holding in every field. The establishment of Multidisciplinary Research University [MERU] is going to be landmark step in the field of innovative research, she added.

Delivering the keynote, Madhya Pradesh Hindi Sahitya Academy director Vikas Dave said that skill enhancement, creativity and psychological preparations are effective measures mentioned in NEP. He emphasised the need for public participation in discussing the implementation of education policies. Presenting the psychological analysis of NEP 2020, he said that this policy will be helpful in preventing the pessimistic approach in the students and they will be prepared to face the adverse situations of life.

The FDC director, professor Indoo Pandey Khanduri stressed on the importance of refreshing the knowledge and understanding level of the teachers with updated pedagogy and research methodology in this digital era as it is quite different from the last century.  She informed the participants that 18 resource persons from across the country will deliver the lectures on NEP, pedagogical techniques, hypothesis formulation and research design and ethical issues in research.
