Promote Homestay scheme for tourism development- Sandhu
The CS visits Raithal and Harsil villages of Uttarkashi district on Saturday

The chief secretary (CS) of Uttarakhand Sukhbir Singh Sandhu visited Raithal and Harshil villages in Uttarkashi district on Saturday and inspected the tourism development schemes in the district. He held a meeting with the district magistrate (DM) Mayoor Dikshit and other officers in Raithal village and sought information about the development schemes of the government. The CS directed the DM that the homestay scheme should be promoted in the district in view of the increase in the number of tourists. In the meeting the DM told the CS about the absence of a sewer line in the district and the problem faced by it on which the CS said phases based on water gravity should be constructed to solve the problem of sewage. In the meeting the CS took the progress of the rehabilitation work of the displaced population of Jatung and Nelang of Bhatwadi block in their own villages. The DM Dikshit said that recently a meeting of the displaced people of Jatung village and officers concerned was organised after which a joint survey would be conducted on March 28 and 29. He said that a survey of Nelang village would be done in April. The CS also took information about the road construction works under the Char Dham Yatra project. He also suggested that small food processing units should be set up in the district so that the fruit and vegetables are prevented from getting perished. The DM told the CS that all preparations are being made for smooth conduction of Char Dham Yatra in the district.
The CS directed the officers to take steps for beautification of the 500 year old historic five storied house in Raithal village. He also inspected Panchpura Bhawan, Jagdamba temple, growth centre and Rana homestay on the occasion.
