Probe sought in sexual assault on differently abled minor girl

Taking cognisance of a complaint letter of a mother stating that her differently abled minor daughter was kidnapped and raped but two of the three culprits are still at large and threatening the victim’s family, SCPCR has directed Dehradun SSP to take action in this matter.

Usha Negi, the chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) informed that the complainant stated that her daughter was kidnapped and allegedly raped last month but the head of their village in Sahaspur threatened her and said not to complain about this issue to police. The complainant still went to police but she was also harassed there by police personnel, said Negi.

After the complainant approached the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), the police filed a case against the culprits but only one out of three culprits were arrested while the other two continue to threaten the victim’s family, informed Negi. Stating it as a heinous crime against the disabled 13 years old girl, Negi directed SSP to investigate the matter and provide the progress report to the commission within 15 days.
