Doon’s student selected for WSS programme

A XII class student from Dehradun Meet Baani Kaur has been chosen for the World Science Scholars (WSS) cohort. According to her school, she is one of the eight students chosen from across North India to be part of the programme this year.

Kaur is presently studying in Welham Boys’ School and is the only student from Uttarakhand to be chosen for the programme. She said that she is quite excited to be selected for such a prestigious programme. Talking about his selection in the WSS programme, she said, “I look forward to working with students from other countries and learning directly from famous mathematicians and scientists whom I had only seen on YouTube videos until now. I would also like to share my learning with my fellow students here in India.”

The co-founder and CEO of the WSS programme, Tracy Day also stated that this programme brings some of the most talented mathematics students in the world. “The programme offers a year-long journey of learning and discovery with accomplished faculty members such as Nobel and Breakthrough Prize winners, best-selling authors, and experts working at the cutting edge of their fields,” said the CEO. The 2022 WSS cohort includes 55 scholars from 13 countries including exceptional math and science competition winners, numerous International Math Olympiad qualifiers, Forbes 30 under 30, and a US National youth poet laureate finalist.
