Preparations for Kumbh Mela 2027 have intensified as officials push to complete key works on time. Mela Officer Sonika said that the administration is focusing on completing major arrangements, construction works and facilities within set deadlines. She said that the government has issued orders for several construction projects, some of which are moving ahead, while others are in the final stages of the tender process.
Sonika said that the Irrigation department is carrying out construction between Rishikul and Sakshi Satnam Ghat over an 810-metre stretch. Work is also underway from Amarapur Ghat to Rishikul Bridge to Shankaracharya Chowk across a 770-metre stretch. The tender process is in progress for repairs on the Dhanauri–SIDCUL link road. The Public Works Department (PWD) has also completed the tender process for widening and strengthening the Bahadrabad–SIIDCUL four-lane road, BHEL Barrier Number 6 and the stretch up to Shivalik Nagar Chowk. On National Highway 334, the process for one-and-a-half-lane widening from Patanjali Yogpeeth to Sahdevpur–Dinarpur–Subhashgarh and further to Pherupur is also moving forward. The Mela officer said that quality will remain a top priority in all works and no negligence will be accepted. She informed that a special plan is being prepared to maintain cleanliness in the Mela area so that visitors get a clean environment. For traffic management, officials are marking parking zones to handle congestion. An ongoing anti-encroachment drive in the Kumbh area will continue with strict monitoring, Sonika said. She also stated that the administration is collecting suggestions from various stakeholders to ensure smooth arrangements and that public cooperation will play an important role. All work is being done as per schedule and everything will be completed on time to ensure a smooth experience for pilgrims and devotees arriving to the Kumbh from across the country and the world in 2027, she added.
