No restrictions on movement of citizens at night, clarifies SSP

Following the instructions of the Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar, the police in Dehradun will act against those caught driving under the influence of alcohol, indulging in rash driving or hooliganism during the night. The SSP has clarified that commercial establishments can remain open as in the past and that there is no restriction on the movements of the general public during the night.

The SSP has directed all the police stations in-charge to take action against those creating ruckus at night after drinking, indulging in drunk and rash driving. Further the licensed liquor shops and bars should not remain open past the permitted time, he stressed. The SSP also clarified that there is no restriction on the movement of the general public at night or instructions regarding shutting down shops, restaurants and other establishments at night. Kunwar said, “The police will take necessary legal action against those who indulge in drunk driving, rash driving and hooliganism under the influence of alcohol at night. People who drive under the influence of alcohol or drive rashly put the lives of other innocent citizens at risk apart from risking their own lives. Some people are spreading confusion regarding this. Dehradun police is committed to the safety of the citizens and will stand with the people at all times.”

The SSP has also appealed to the citizens to immediately inform the police in case any person nearby tries to disturb the peace and order. The police will keep the identity of the complainant secret while taking strict legal action against such anti-social elements, he stressed.
