The police are searching for a man and his son accused of killing the man’s daughter in Laksar area for having an affair. The police have stepped up the search for the duo after the body of the girl was recovered from the Ganga river by the police who were searching for her on the basis of a complaint lodged by her companion.

On August 9, Monu Singh, a resident of Bhikkampur in Laksar, told the police that he had a love affair with a girl from the village.  Both were planning to marry after she attained adulthood. He said that a few days ago the family members of the girl came to know about their affair after which her father and brother beat up the girl. In his complaint, Singh had expressed the possibility of the girl being murdered by her family. The police were investigating after registering a case of missing person and then kidnapping.  The police came to know during investigation that about 10 days ago, the father and brother of the teenager had gone towards the Ganga carrying a heavy sack during the night.  The father and son were summoned by the police for questioning but they ran away from home.  Following this, the police called the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team and conducted a search operation in the Ganga river from where a plastic sack was found with the body of the girl inside it.

Laksar police circle officer Hemendra Singh Negi said that the police had recovered the body on Saturday evening from the Ganga, after which the police had converted the case from kidnapping to murder. Two police teams have been deployed to apprehend the murder accused Madan and his son.
