Police reach villages: Awareness campaign conducted

Under the direction of the superintendent of police, Kamlesh Upadhyay, Uttarkashi police organised Chaupals in various rural areas of the district and launched a massive public awareness campaign on drug eradication, cybercrime, women’s safety and social evils. As part of the campaign, Dharasu police visited Chhaijula ​​ while Purola police team visited Manjiyali and Kotwali Uttarkashi police reached Devidhar and listened to the complaints of the villagers.

With cybercrimes happening in villages, the villagers were told to immediately call 1930 for assistance in case of any cyber fraud.

In addition, people were also informed about the social ills involving crimes against women, domestic violence, child marriage, child labour, juvenile delinquency and human trafficking. In case of any emergency, people were advised to call 112 for immediate police assistance.

 The district police sources said that they would continue such public awareness programmes in the coming days.
