Police arrest man for killing younger brother

Police have arrested the accused Sandeep Jaiswal who had allegedly killed his younger brother following a family dispute late Tuesday night from near Mangal Padav-Bareilly road in Haldwani. The police also recovered a .32 bore revolver, two live cartridges and the steel lota used in the crime from his possession.
According to police, Sandeep had an argument with his younger brother Sonu Jaiswal at their home which turned violent and the accused, who was inebriated, attacked Sonu with a steel utensil and repeatedly hit him on the head and face. The family members rushed Sonu to hospital where he was declared dead. After receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A murder case was registered at Kotwali Haldwani on the complaint of the victim’s nephew.
Senior police officers formed a special team to investigate the case. After checking CCTV footage and collecting evidence, police arrested the accused within four hours of the incident.
During interrogation, the accused is said to have stated that he was currently out on bail and that his younger brother had been seriously ill. Due to financial difficulties, he was facing problems in arranging medical treatment, which drove him into mental stress and alcohol. He had attacked his sibling in a fit of rage, he told police.
Police said that the accused had previously been jailed in cases related to murder, assault on his mother, and causing grievous injuries. The accused has been produced before the court.
