Accused allegedly shot man in a fit of road rage for not being allowed to overtake 

The Dehradun police have arrested a 33-year-old man for allegedly firing at a man in the Rajpur area late Saturday night within 12 hours of the incident being reported. The Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daleep Singh Kunwar said that the complainant named Dinesh Kumar filed a police complaint in Rajpur police station on Sunday afternoon that when he and his friends were going to Kishan Nagar Chowk from Mussoorie on Saturday at around 10:30 PM, an unknown man stopped their vehicle, started verbally abusing them and then fired twice at them. He said that one bullet barely missed the knee of one of his friends Ansh Bhatia but the other hit him in the stomach. The complainant said in his complaint that his friend got seriously injured and was admitted to the hospital where his condition is still critical. The SSP said that after filing the complaint against the accused, the police started the investigation and activated an informers network and analysed CCTV footage nearby the incident area. The police finally nabbed the accused named Himanshu Gaur (33) from Purkul Road in Rajpur on Sunday evening. The SSP said that the accused revealed in the preliminary inquiry that the complainant did not give his vehicle a pass near Anarwala when he was going to Mussoorie from his home in Majra on Saturday night. The accused said that he got off his vehicle, started abusing them and shot at them in rage, as per the SSP. The police have also recovered the pistol used in shooting the victim and some cartridges. The SSP also announced a reward of Rs 5,000 for the police team for its immediate action on the matter and for arresting the accused within 12 hours of the incident.
