A Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act Court on Friday has rejected the bail application of five persons accused in the alleged rape of a minor girl and its alleged cover-up involving GRD World School. Anxious relatives and sympathizers of the accused had assembled outside the POCSO court on the day in hope that the court would grant bail to them. However, to their dismay, the court rejected the bail applications. The courtroom witnessed long arguments between the counsels of both prosecution and defense after which the judged rejected bail of the accused in the high profile case. The incident of the rape of the class X girl is said to have happened on August 14 when four senior boys sexually exploited her in the school premises. The victim in her complaint had alleged that she had narrated the incident to the maid (Aaya) of the hostel who told her to keep her mouth shut. The maid later told about the incident to the higher ups of the school but everyone scolded the girl. In order to suppress the case a harried school administration even gave abortion pills to the girl. On the complaint of the girl, the police arrested the Director of the school Lata Gupta, Principal Jitendra Sharma, administrative officer Deepak, his wife Tanu and maid Manju and sent the boys charged with rape of the minor to the juvenile homes. On the recommendation of the education department of Dehradun, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has canceled the affiliation of the school.
