PMHS agrees to assurance given by Health secretary

Following detailed discussions on demands of government doctors with the Health secretary on Tuesday, the administration assured the doctors that action will be taken on two of their three main demands within a month.
The members of Provincial Medical Health Services (PMHS) held a meeting with the Health secretary R Rajesh Kumar here on Tuesday. The meeting was aimed at addressing the long pending demand of the doctors employed by the State government. After detailed deliberations on three major demands, the Health secretary said that the necessary procedure will be initiated to fulfill two of their demands withint the next one month. Kumar assured the doctors that the State government is working in this direction with full seriousness and sensitivity. Discussions were also held on the third demand and it was stated that it may take more time to do the needful to meet it. Stating this clearly, the Health secretary assured the doctors that the government will work seriously and constructively on this demand too.
The PMHS office bearers said that the Health secretary’s stance was found to be satisfactory and positive, which was appreciated by the PMHS delegation. The PMHS office bearers said that they have agreed to the positive assurance given by the Health secretary and decided to postpone their decision to wear black ribbons and protest, for the next one month. The organisation believes that their demands will be met within the time frame given by the government. Welcoming the stance of the State government, the PMHS has expressed hope that this attitude of cooperation between the Health department and doctors will continue in the future.
