As many as 977 meritorious students from 207 PM-SHRI schools across Uttarakhand will participate in an interstate educational tour under a State Government initiative to promote experiential and holistic learning. The programme, scheduled from January 15 to January 20, 2026, has been approved with a budget of Rs three crore.

Students will visit scientific and space research centres, IITs, sports training institutes, technology hubs, cultural and heritage sites and music and art academies in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Goa, officials from the Education Department said.

A total of 1,048 participants will take part, including 977 students, 13 nodal officers and 58 teacher escorts. From each PM-SHRI school, two boys and two girls from Classes 9 and 11 who secured the highest marks in the 2024–25 annual examinations will be selected. Students who earlier participated in the Bharat Bhraman Programme will not be eligible.

Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said the initiative aims to expose students to India’s scientific, cultural and educational heritage to build confidence and innovation.

The tour will be flagged off at the district level by local MPs, MLAs and district magistrates. Chief education officers have been directed to ensure logistical arrangements and submit a detailed report after completion.
