Pending salary of 108 workers released, agitation continues

The Dharna organised by the ousted workers at the protest site near Parade Ground continued for 19th day on Saturday

The agitating field workers of the 108 emergency ambulance service got some relief on Saturday when their pending salary was released. The salary of two months of these workers was pending. The salary is expected to get deposited in the accounts of the workers on Monday. The Vice President of the state unit of Congress party, Surya Kant Dhasmana told the agitators on Saturday that the officials of the GVK- EMRI, the company which was operating the 108 emergency ambulance service prior to May 1 has informed that the salary would get deposited in the accounts of workers on Monday. He said that a delegation of leaders of Congress party had met chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Friday and had informed him about the agitation of field workers of the service and the effect of agitation on the ambulance service in detail. The general secretary of the association of field workers of the 108 Ambulance service, Vipin Jamloki said that the employees have not received the pending salary of two months despite assurances. He said that more than 700 workers of the ambulance workers were thrown out from the job for no fault of theirs. Jamloki added that that the agitation of the association would continue till its demands are accepted. Meanwhile the Dharna organised by the association at the protest site near Parade Ground continued on Saturday. The contract of GVK- EMRI Company to operate 108 emergency ambulance service ended on April 30 after the new company, CAMP took over the operation of ambulance service.
