Pauri Police recover money from online fraudsters

The cyber cell of the district police has successfully recovered a sum of Rs 67,000 from fraudsters and refunded the amount to the three victims. The amount was siphoned out by fraudsters from their bank accounts.

According to police,  Seema Patwal, a resident of village Dhànghu, Kanskhet submitted a complaint to cyber cell unit on March 14 this year that some unknown person has defrauded her with  Rs one lakh  while Bhupendra Singh Negi, a resident of village Badkhet talla of Block Reekhnikhal complained on May 30 that some unknown person call him as a relative and he has taken  Rs 13,000 from his bank account. Similarly Rashid Ahmed, resident Lakripadhav, Kotdwar also complained about an online fraud of Rs 2,000.

Acting on these complaints the Pauri district cyber cell was able to refund Rs 52000 to Patwal while full amount was recovered from the fraudsters of Bhupendra Singh Negi and Rashid.

It is pertinent to mention here that on the orders of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yashwant Singh Chauhan an awareness drive against cyber crime has been undertaken in all schools and colleges of the district. Though the cyber fraud cases have not come down, the drive has succeeded in creating awareness in the people due to which the victims are submitting complaints in the cyber cell units.
