Pauri burn victim serious, shifted to Safdarjung hosp, New Delhi

Hanging precariously between life and death, the victim of a barbaric burning incident of Pauri has been shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi. On the insistence of the Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the burn victim was flown to New Delhi in an air ambulance from Jolly Grant airport at 1.45 pm. Her parents too were flown to New Delhi in a private airliner. The public relations officer Prakash Thapliyal told The Pioneer that two doctors, one anesthetist and one burn surgeon had accompanied the girl in the air ambulance. He further said that the condition of the girl continued to be critical and she was yet to regain consciousness. The shocking incident had occurred in Pauri on Sunday in which an 18-year-old girl, a resident of Peepli village located in Kapolsyun Patti of Pauri, was set ablaze by a stalker when she was returning home from college. The accused, a taxi driver, had allegedly dragged her to the roadside where he tried to sexually assault her. On resistance, he had allegedly poured petrol over her and set her on fire.
