PACA thanks Higher Education director for releasing pending salaries of teachers in 21 colleges

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Provincial Aided Colleges Association (PACA) thanked the director of Higher Education, Kamal Kishore Pandey for the timely release of a three-month salary grant to ensure the disbursement of pending salaries for teachers in 21 aided private colleges across the State.

It is important to note that PACA had previously voiced significant concerns regarding the failure to disburse salary grants since March 2025. Approximately 1,500 teachers and non-teaching staff from these 21 private aided colleges had not received their salaries since that time.

PACA general secretary Prashant Singh informed that the association appreciates the efforts of both the director of Higher Education and vice chairman of the State Higher Education Council,  Devendra Bhasin, for their crucial role in facilitating the release of salary payments. With Bhasin’s consistent efforts, teachers were able to receive their salaries in a timely manner, ensuring that university examinations were not affected. He is also working at the higher administrative level to prevent such salary-related issues from arising in the future.

These efforts are particularly significant in light of the government order issued on May 20, which outlined specific conditions for the release of upcoming salary grants. The vice chairman has consistently assured that  chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is attuned to the challenges faced by teachers and is committed to resolving these issues, he said.

Further, Singh said that teachers from all 21 colleges affiliated with PACA in Uttarakhand demonstrated remarkable patience, dedication, and integrity during this process. Notably, teachers from Harsh Vidya Mandir PG College (Raisi), Chaman Lal PG College (Landhaura), Chandrawati PG Girls’ College (Kashipur), Municipal PG College (Mussoorie), MKP PG College (Dehradun) and DAV PG College (Dehradun) played an active role in addressing the salary issue. Representatives from these colleges engaged with several public representatives, including MLA Umesh Kumar (Khanpur), MLA  Pradeep Batra (Roorkee), Rajpur Road MLA  Khajan Das and many others to effectively present the matter of pending salaries. Their proactive intervention was instrumental in securing the prompt approval of the salary grant by the Director of Higher Education.
