Orange alert- heavy rain likely in parts of State today

Various parts of the State received moderate to heavy rain on Friday. The State meteorological centre has issued an orange alert regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur at isolated places in the State on Saturday. Further, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in the State’s districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience partly to generally cloudy skies today. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two of which may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 31 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 31.2 degrees Celsius and 25.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.6 degrees Celsius and 14.7 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 23.8 degrees Celsius and 17.9 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. There was 16.2 millimetres rain in Dehradun, 68 millimetres in Pantnagar, 100 millimetres in Chorgalia, 92.5 millimetres in Kichha, 61.5 millimetres in Khatima and 32 millimetres in Haldwani.
