Dhami directs officials to expand ISBT facilities across the State

The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has warned of taking strict action against officials concerned if he finds potholes during his impending surprise inspection of national highways. Dhami conducted a review meeting of the Transport department on Friday in the presence of Transport minister Chandan Ram Dass, Finance and Urban Development minister Prem Chand Agarwal, managing director of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) Rohit Meena and the Dehradun district magistrate Sonika among other officials.

Dhami directed the officials concerned to ensure that there are no potholes on any road. He said that the government will not tolerate any laxity in road-related works. The CM said that he might soon conduct a surprise inspection of national highways and would take strict action against the officials concerned if he finds potholes on the highways. The State attracts many devotees and tourists from across the country and abroad and it is the moral responsibility of all officials to ensure they return with a good travel experience, said the CM.

He further said that the department needs to make a plan for the expansion of all Inter-State Bus Terminals (ISBTs) across the State considering the increase in the number of devotees and tourists in the future. He directed the officials to focus on providing all facilities to the passengers in ISBTs while maintaining proper sanitation in the premises. The CM said to make the police station in-charges accountable for the encroachment occurring near ISBT premises across the State. He also directed the DM Sonika to make an action plan to carry out development works in ISBT Dehradun to provide better facilities to passengers. Dhami asked the department to mark lands for the proposed construction of new ISBTs in the State keeping in mind the convenience of passengers from all aspects. He also ordered officials to make arrangements for marketing of products from mountainous areas at bus stands.
