Officials directed to expedite construction of MDDA housing projects

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) vice chairman Ashish Kumar Srivastav directed officials to focus on quality and time-bound completion of work on the authority’s housing projects in Dehradun. He said this after inspecting the project sites on the weekend. The MDDA vice chairman along with various officials inspected the Aalayam housing project at Sahastradhara Road, high-income group (HIG) housing project near ISBT and Transport Nagar phase II apart from inspecting preparations for the smart parking to be facilitated on Rajpur Road. During the inspection of the Aalayam project, it was stated that for the residential units being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), applications had been invited and registration of the applicants had been done. Officials were directed to ensure that construction of 240 such units under PMAY is completed without fail by December so that these can be allocated to the applicants. Inspecting the quality and progress of other residential blocks, the vice chairman directed speeding up of the work. Necessary action should be taken immediately in case of any quality related issue surfacing, he stressed. Later, the officials inspected the ISBT housing project where instructions were given to complete one block by December. The officials of the executing agency were directed to lay special focus on safety and quality. At the Transport Nagar phase II, it was stated that the middle-income group (MIG) blocks are nearly complete. Any quality related issues should be resolved without delay before possession is given to the people. There are total of 11 blocks in this project of which two blocks are fully ready to be handed over to the allottees. Officials were directed to complete the partially completed blocks within a period of 15 days. MDDA secretary Prakash Chandra Dumka and other officials were also present during the inspections. According to the officials, as part of its housing project on Sahastradhara Road, the authority is constructing 112 high income group (HIG), 112 MIG, 112 low income group (LIG), 48 studio apartments and 240 economically weaker section (EWS) units.
