Offers galore to end jab hesitancy

From discounts in flight tickets, waiver on car servicing charges and free mobile charge to heavy rewards are being offered to get people vaccinated. In a move to dispel vaccine hesitancy, rumours and myths surrounding the Covid-19 jabs, corporate sectors, business class and elected representatives are throwing in a little something extra to reward those who have gotten their shot or encourage those who are dragging their feet.

IndiGo airline, India’s largest domestic budget air carrier, is offering 10 per cent discounts on flight tickets to those who get vaccinated; McDonald’s is offering a 20 per cent discount on meals; an MLA is offering free mobile recharge while another MLA is offering reward of `10 lakh for the village that achieves 100 per cent inoculation; Central Bank of India Ltd is offering higher interest on deposits from recipients of at least one dose; boAt is offering 25 per cent discounts on its product; and Beer Cafe’s offer gives its consumers a 10 per cent discount on their first jab, and 20 per cent on the second one.

In the national Capital’s Saket, Select CITYWalk is offering various “encouragement packages” for inoculated consumers. The list is long.

To claim the discounts, people must show their vaccination certificates issued by the Government.

IndiGo airline, India’s largest domestic budget air carrier, has launched a Vaxi Fare scheme, giving a 10 percent discount on airfare on single, return and multiple journeys across India for passengers who are vaccinated with either first or both doses of Covid-19 vaccines. IndiGo airline is the first airline to offer such a discount to domestic passengers. The catch is that only limited inventory is available under the offer.

In Gurugram, Hotel Le Meridien is offering a 30 per cent discount on the total bill at their restaurant, latest recipe, while Hyatt  Regency in the city has a “buy one, get one free” offer  during their Sunday brunch and on select spirits at their lounge and restaurant, Kitchen District. It is also giving a discount on spa sessions. In Delhi, special discount is being offered by Delhi’s Zaika’s restaurant located in Yamuna Vihar, to those who have taken vaccines against corona.

Under the scheme, a discount of 20 per cent will be given on food items. After the unlock, the restaurant is again started offering the discount.

DTH service provider Dish TV is offering free “one day worth of entertainment” to its customers after they upload the details of their vaccination on the company website.

A BJP MLA Vishnu Khatri in Madhya Pradesh has announced that free mobile recharge will be done for all the people in his constituency who get vaccinated by June 30. Before Khatri, Sitasharan Sharma, MLA of Hoshangabad Assembly, had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for the village that achieves 100 per cent inoculation. In Sitasharan Sharma’s assembly constituency, there are 40 villages under a total of 23 gram panchayats.

The fast food giant McDonald’s is offering a 20 per cent discount on meals. McDonald’s India – North and East has launched the “We Care” initiative. It is aimed at encouraging McDonald’s customers to join the fight against Covid and get themselves vaccinated. The initiative, launched through McDonald’s mobile app, will offer special deals, like discounts on burgers, to the customers post their vaccination. McDonald’s customers can avail the limited time offer by uploading their vaccination certificate on McDonald’s mobile app under the “Got Vaccinated” tab, along with basic details. Restaurants and hotels brands have also recently come up with a special offer to provide vaccinations to customers with lucrative offers.

BharatPe is running an instant cashback offer for its six million merchant partners, if they upload their vaccination certificates on the app.

The Beer Cafe’s offer gives its consumers a 10 per cent discount on their first jab, and 20 per cent on the second one.

The Chaayos tea chain is offering tea on the house for those who have taken their first jab. boAt has an attractive offer for those who have received the Covid vaccine. They can take advantage of a 25 per cent discount offer on boAt products. People who avail this offer will also receive a free mask from the brand.

Colorbar, a beauty brand has come up with the #CBCares initiative to spread awareness about the Covid vaccination drive.  One can become a part of this initiative by sharing a picture of themselves getting vaccinated, for which they will be get Colorbar vouchers worth Rs 500.

Jaan Vision, an organisation in Rajkot district of Gujarat, is providing free food to those who get vaccinated. A car workshop in Mehsana, Gujarat is forgoing labour charges on car serving and offering a 10 per cent discount on car accessories to vaccinated individuals.

SoftBank-backed grocer Grofers a month’s subscription to its loyalty program, and home appliances maker Godrej extended product warranties. State-run Central Bank of India Ltd is offering higher interest on deposits from recipients of at least one dose.

Recently, Soni community in Gujarat offered gold nose pins for women and hand blenders to men after vaccination.
