Sunday, 20 May 2018 | PNS | Dehradun– Rain remained elusive in Dehradun till evening on Saturday and the people grappled with the searing summer heat with the mercury crossing the threshold of 37 degree Celsius. There is little hope for the city to experience rain on Sunday though it might rain sporadically in some districts like Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh on the day as per the forecast of the Met department. The people of the capital suffered the summer woe on Saturday too as the mercury surged up to 37.4 degree Celsius. The level of humidity was high too, compounding the suffering further.  Traffic thinned considerably on the otherwise bustling roads of the city since forenoon. On Sunday too, the sky would remain mainly clear with little possibility of rain in Dehradun and the temperature might soar further. The Met department said that the maximum temperature might soar up to 38 degree Celsius in the city on Sunday.  The sky would be mainly clear to partly cloudy in Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts which might experience light rain or rain accompanied by thunder, the weathermen said. Udham Singh Nagar district experienced  a warm day too on Saturday. The mercury  in Pantnagar  shot up to 37.7 degree Celsius. Things might turn even worse on Sunday if the Met officers are to be believed.
