The Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh on Thursday held an interaction with the owners of hotels, restaurants and bars to ensure law and order is maintained in their respective premises during New Year celebrations. He also issued several instructions and asked them to follow all to strengthen security arrangements. He said that all establishments will ensure to give detailed information to the nearest police station about any programme they plan to organise in advance, like the number of people expected to attend it, timings and main attractions, among other aspects. This will help the police to make security arrangements accordingly.

Singh said that the owner of the establishment will be responsible for getting CCTV cameras installed and making proper security arrangements as per the rules. The establishments will also have to make proper arrangements for parking on their own on New Year’s eve failing which strict action will be taken against the respective vehicle owner.

The SSP also informed them that big display boards have also been put up at Kuthal Gate and other places to provide information about the traffic system and route plan of Mussoorie to help the tourists. He said that all police station in-charges, outpost in-charges and other officials concerned will ensure that strict action is taken against those who disturb the law and order in any way.

In view of the security on New Year’s eve, a large number of police personnel have been deployed for duty across the district and all the police officials have been directed to visit the big events and venues in their respective areas to monitor the situation. The SSP said that the police will also assist hotels, restaurants and bars as per the guidelines issued by the government. The police seek the cooperation of establishment owners, locals, tourists and others to maintain law and order during New Year celebrations. Strict action will be taken against those raising ruckus in the district, he added.
